Mulberry Oolong Tea
Welcome to my dream tea shop BokJoyTea where I create delicious, authentic, and guilt-free drinks for everyone to enjoy. Today, I’m excited to introduce the first item on my menu: Mulberry Oolong Tea. This refreshing drink is made with Taiwanese mulberry, red oolong tea, chia seeds, aiyu jelly, goji berries, sago, and dried wax fruit.
On my last trip to Taiwan, I discovered mulberries at a drinks shop. I was looking for something refreshing and decided to try their popular mulberry smoothie. It was heavenly—a perfect blend of tart and sweet, my favorite flavor combo. Before that, I’d never heard of mulberries since they’re rarely available in U.S. markets. They resemble blackberries but grow on deciduous trees instead of bushes or vines. Like blackberries, mulberries are packed with antioxidants and nutrients.
My Mulberry Oolong Tea is healthy, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. I use Taiwanese mulberry jam from YunHai, which is made with crushed fruit, a touch of sugar, and lemon juice to preserve the vibrant flavor. It blends beautifully with a cold-brewed red oolong tea base, delivering the ideal balance of tartness and sweetness.
For the toppings, I’ve chosen a mix of nutritious and texturally interesting “qq” ingredients, like goji berries and chia seeds, to make the drink both fun and satisfying. The dried wax apples, also from YunHai, help balance the mulberry’s tartness. Wax apples, a gorgeous, juicy fruit primarily grown in Taiwan, are my mother’s favorite. Every time we visit Taiwan, we stock up on them!
